I always thought that this truck was the 5.7 but it was actually the classic 4.7 2UZ-FE. Damn that’s a well built engine. Keep up on those timing belts [not chains Mike...you should know better] and oil changes and it will just keep on going.

Wow. That’s 2 UZ series engines at the million mile mark. Matt Farah’s Million Mile Lexus LS400 and then this one.

This really doesn’t surprise me, we’ve got a client closing in on 400k on an ‘03 Tundra that runs like new. Needed a trans at about 350k, but other than that it’s pretty much just been regular maintenance.

If you really want the thing to last a million miles, go with timing gears.

Naw, quantum entangled timing is the way to go - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_e…

I wonder if he followed the recommended oil change interval, or changed it every 3k miles.

Pretty sure that’s what the VW W8 motors used, or at least close enough.

If it’s like my 3UZ 4.3L, it would probably have a really really wide timing belt. It was twice as wide as I expected when I changed it. It’s not a terrible thing to change a timing belt once in a while though.

My pops would be so triggered right now.

I have no doubt our Sequoia would go 200K miles issue free with regular maintenance. I just don’t think we would keep it that long

But...it already did last a million miles

He had it regularly serviced I know that

Great. Here’s what he heard... we need to improve the sun visor detents, and we should definitely value engineer the interior materials.

You and I both know sun visor strength could use some improvement

I’d be willing to bet after a few years he had some kind of seat covers on the front seats. But still...
